Tri-State Greyhound Park
Wheeling Downs (recently renamed Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center) features exciting greyhound racing all year round. Located at 1 S. Stone Street, Wheeling, West Virginia, it also offers its visitors the unique thrills of slot and video gaming.
Witness to an illustrious history, the Wheeling Downs complex was reported to have hosted thoroughbred and harness racing in the 1860s. In the 1920s, it became the site of the West Virginia State Fair. In 1967, after a prolonged period of inactivity, it was rebuilt and re-opened as a thoroughbred, and then as a harness racing track.
Greyhound racing was introduced in August 1976 and it eventually became the racetrack's sole activity.
Today, Wheeling Downs flourishes as one of America's premier greyhound racing tracks.
